📸 Fuji Recipe EP1: Shooting Vinh Hy Bay, Ninh Thuan, Vietnam with the Classic Cuban Negative recipe

Using and discussing the recipe everyone's talking about.

All images on this post are shot on the Classic Cuban Negative recipe created by @osanbilgi.

Vinh Hy Bay, Vietnam. Shot with Cuban Negative Recipe

Vinh Hy is a tiny little bay in Ninh Thuan, Vietnam. It’s not a very well known destination to go on vacation. In fact, the location flies under the radar for even most locals.

Alleyway

My wife and I stayed in a little guesthouse in the fishing village, which is the main town of the bay.

The most common type of accommodation you’ll find here. No big hotels in sight.

This area is stunning to look at in general, and the lack of heavy tourism activities makes it even better.

There are a few places with beautiful sights that you have to drive a motorbike for 20-30 minutes to get to, but it’s a marvel to look at.

You can also take boat tours to visit other parts of the bay, and go swimming/snorkeling/kayaking/etc in nearby islands.

It’s very sunny and windy, which inspires me to shoot with (mostly) the Cuban Negative recipe that seems to be very popular these days, and not without good reasons.

Cuban Negative is a pretty warm and saturated recipe with quite a bit of contrast. I don’t think it was modeled after any particular film stocks, but it has a very nostalgic look (classic negative base probably helps).

Flowers

Funnily enough, it feels more like a positive/slide film look for me, rather than what the name suggests.

At night, the images can get a bit too warm sometimes, so I don’t use Cuban Negative a lot. There are a few shots here though.

Regardless, it delivers beautiful images under many lighting situations. I think this recipe will be a mainstay on one of the slots on my camera for a long time!

And that’s about all of my yapping. I hope you like it. Subscribe to the newsletter for more, probably worse content (This looks peak to me). Check out my Instagram/Threads if you’re into that 🙂.
